Henry VIII is most probably England's most famous King or Queen. He was a notoriously brutal and barbaric man who ordered the executions of thousands including two of his own wives. He belongs to the most infamous dynasty to ever have ruled England the Tudors and he would bring about huge amounts of religious turmoil in the country which would continue for centuries.

Much is said and known about Henry's wives, two of which he ordered their own deaths at the hands of a swordsman. However the story of Henry VIII's own death isn't as well told. He suffered with ill health throughout the last decades of his life, and he was blighted by injury and issues. Following a jousting incident which would change his health forever he would transition into a brutal and tyrannical man who could turn on people very quickly.

His own death was a complete contrast to the brutal public executions in which he had ordered over the course of his reign. He was in quiet suffering with the Archbishop of Canterbury and his friend Thomas Cranmer in his final moments. The death of Henry seems rather calm compared to the chaos brought during his reign, however it's an interesting story as is what happened to the King's body and his funeral.
