The Black Hills are located in South Dakota. They aren't towering like the Rocky Mountains, but they are really fun to explore by hiking, biking, or driving. An added bonus: a lot of wildlife!
There are six national park sites in the Black Hills: Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Badlands, Minuteman Missile, and Devil's Tower. Theodore Roosevelt also sits 4 hours to the North.
