Remember Thee
TO JULIA
TO JULIA
ON HER BIRTHDAY.
When Time was entwining the garland of years,
Which to crown my beloved was given,
Though some of the leaves might be sullied with tears,
Yet the flowers were all gathered in heaven.
And long may this garland be sweet to the eye,
May its verdure forever be new;
Young Love shall enrich it with many a sigh,
And Sympathy nurse it with dew.

LibriVox volunteers bring you 13 recordings of Remember Thee by Thomas Moore. This was the Weekly Poetry project for January 17, 2021. ------ Thomas Moore was an Irish writer, poet and lyricist celebrated for his Irish Melodies. Their setting of English-language verse to old Irish tunes marked the transition in popular Irish culture from Irish to English. Moore is often considered Ireland's national bard and is to Ireland what Robert Burns is to Scotland. ( Wikipedia )
