'The Legend of Kvothe' - Unofficial theme of The Kingkiller Chronicle (CC-BY)

"My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me." This is my musical interpretation of Kvothe - the protagonist from Patrick Rothfuss' best-selling series 'The Kingkiller Chronicle', with books like 'The Name of the Wind' and 'The Wise Man's Fear'. Without too many spoilers, Kvothe is a talented musician and arcanist with a disturbing past, and an uncertain future, which slowly unfolds through Rothfuss' excellent storytelling. I wanted to capture the dualist nature of Kvothe - someone who has experienced a lot of pain and sadness, but has a real passion for living and learning. He's a lutist, so I've tried to pull off some stringed playing in here - to mixed effect. The middle bit starts off with a flurry of small percussion, which I was hoping would capture the atmosphere of Kvothe's frequent tavern performances, which builds into a sort-of duel between the lute and orchestra, and then back into your typical fantasy-themed music. :P I have to say I struggled getting this one over the line - the mix was a pain, but I'm relieved to get it to this point nonetheless.
