In December 2005 Russ Nellis opened his weblog, Log Cabin Homestead, with this note: "My wife and I have been raising our three children on our 120 acre homestead in Northern Wisconsin since 1998. We hope to share with you on this blog some of our experiences these past years." And then he began writing a series of long, thoughtful posts about his family's ongoing journey towards a more self-sufficient way of life. Russ's writing is humble, engaging, and encouraging, and I knew it would be good to help people hear the voice behind the thoughts.
