Giving Honor to others isn't an option, it's a command. What's more, honor is not reserved just for the few who deserve it. The Gospels call us to give honor even to the dishonorable and ungracious. The reason is simple: In doing so, we honor our Father who is in heaven and make his name great on the earth!
