Astrophysicists are a little crazy. Their experiments can involve attaching expensive, heavy telescopes to giant helium balloons, which they then launch from the ice fields of the Antarctic. Surprisingly, this is one of the most effective ways to study how stars are born. In this episode, Northwestern University astrophysicist Tristan Matthews describes his recent foray to Antarctica.
