This week on the show, I am joined by former High Performance Manager of North Melbourne, Collingwood and Carlton Football Club, David Buttifant. Butters, well known for his time spent at Collingwood. He was a pivotal role player in the clubs success, revolutionising training in elite sport, Australia. Constantly pushing the boundaries to find innovation.
High altitude training being one of these - taking AFL clubs over to Arizona in the US hiking up Mt Humphreys and trekking the Grand Canyon as well as training in incredible conditions to help find an edge and build resilience.
He has an incredible drive in building resilience in young people, hence his new project Resilience builders in which he takes individuals and families of trips including hiking to Mt Everest Base camp to learn about how hard you can really push yourself! I was lucky enough to work with Butters and he taught me a lot about exactly that - getting comfortable being uncomfortable.
