Florence Huyler is back in Chicago, tending to the children in a Parks program. On a whim, she purchases a set of used wedding rings, 13 in all, that had gotten lost in the mail and were being auctioned by the Post Office. This seemingly innocent purchase made her the focus of attention by many who had an interest in them, particularly the 13th ring. This winds up causing her and her friend, Betty, a great deal of adventure and peril, but also creates some new friendships along the way.
