Granddaughter to E. H. Butler Sr.

The SUNY Buffalo State Oral History Project was conducted from 1975 to 1994 and was primarily directed by Sister Martin Joseph Jones, the first College Archivist. Marjorie Van Antwerp was born in 1911 to Roscoe and Ada Butler Mitchell. Her mother was the daughter of Edward H. Butler Sr. She passed away on November 29, 1990. Edward H. Butler was born in 1850. In 1873, he started the Buffalo Sunday News.  In 1880, he started the Buffalo Evening News. He passed away on March 9, 1914. The E. H. Butler Library at the State University College at Buffalo is dedicated in his memory and houses the E. H. Butler Sr. Papers in the Archives & Special Collections Department.
