About
CLIMBTALK - 01/04/2013
Just an innocent kid from upstate New York, east coast climbing legend John Bragg freed Kansas City 5,12 in the Gunks and Cinch Crack 5.11 in Eldorado. In 1973 John climbed with John Stannard and Steve Wunsch living in the dirt and going through the list of aid climbs out of the Dick Williams Gunks guidebook to see what would go free. They always started bottom up. Climbing ratings never meant anything to him and earlier made money from rescues. A competitive swimmer since age 8 John spent most of his formative years with his face in the water. The Vulgarians thought he, Wunsch and Stannard were way too serious.
