About
WebGL, debuted in 2011, is a graphics library which allows your computer to render complex 3D and 2D graphics using your computer's GPU (traditionally used for games) within your web browser - without the use of plugin. While WebGL often used for advertising and commercial applications, because of the plugin's relative newness and lack of set standards for its application and use, it's community is a little bit of a new frontier for creative experimentation. Artist, web developer, and WebGL community member Isaac Cohen aka Cabbibo, talks about his artistic process, what got him into experimenting with WebGL, and the dynamics of many of the online communities he's been a part of over the years.
ENOUGH, a self-described "interactive storybook", uses many of the unique abilities of WebGL to weave a touching story which creates a synced visual and aural world that manage to be very reactive and organic feeling in a way rarely seen in interactive digital work. It's a really singular experience that I completely recommend.
More recently, Isaac has been working with electronic/IDM artists Plaid on an exploratory interactive website for their new album "The Digging Remedy".
