OBEAH OPERA!!!

This is a pre-recorded phone interview that I had with creator, composer, librettist, and performer Nicole Brooks about her latest work "OBEAH OPERA". I originally aired this on my MIDDLE PASSAGE radio show heard every Wednesday evening from 5-7pm on Toronto's RADIO REGENT. The opera was commissioned by PANAMANIA, the entertainment wing of Toronto's Pan Am-Para Pan Games 2015, and is a Caribbean take on the Salem Witch Trials held in New England in 1692 as seen through the eyes of "Tituba", a slave woman from Barbados who is introduced to Orisha spirituality by "The Elder" played by Singing Sandra, a Trinidad-Tobago cultural ambassador! The opera is done entirely without instrumentation, just vocals and is amazingly powerful! This is a must see performance!
