Gerard Manley Hopkins: The Windhover
Dante's Ghost
Source:
A spoken/musical interpretation of "The Windhover. For Christ Our Lord", which poet/priest Hopkins himself described as "the best thing I ever wrote." This poem reflects Hopkins' exquisite sensitivity to sensory experience and his equally acute sense of metaphor. The son of existential psychiatrist R.D. Laing recalls that his father voiced the poem literally hundreds of times while working, while walking, and while at rest.
