What is Grief

WHAT IS GOOD GRIEF

Good Grief is a program which attempts to meet the needs of those suffering the loss of a loved one due to death. It is Christ-centered, but applies to all. Discussions touch on various subjects relating to grief such as What Not to Say to a Grieving Person, Loss of a Spouse or Child, and The Uniqueness of Grief. We also invite guests to share personal stories of their experience with grief.

Listeners are encouraged to find a support group and we discuss several available options. There are so many people hurting because of loss and I pray this program will help relieve some of their pain and point them to a source of healing.

BIO OF INA MARIE BENZ

Ina Marie Benz was born in Detroit, Michigan in February 1943, but grew-up in Tucson, Arizona, where her family moved in 1945 due to her father’s health. She graduated from Catalina High School in Tucson in 1961, attending the University of Arizona for a semester. She has received an Associates Degree in Religious Teachings from Calvary Baptist Bible Institute and Seminary in Eufaula, Oklahoma and is presently working on a BA in Religious Teachings.

Ina was married in 1962 and in 1969 found herself a single working mother. In 1971 she married the man who would be her husband of 39 plus years. After leaving the military the family moved from Tucson to Kansas where they lived, returning to Arizona in 2010. Six months after our return Bob died of Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma caused by the exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Their daughter, born in 1973, also bore the effects of the Agent Orange to which her dad been exposed. Ina has another daughter, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and an older brother.

Even though she grew up in a Christian home, she did not have a personal relationship with the Lord until later in life. Before his death Bob reminded her that their move was God’s and He had something for her to do. This turned out to be in the ministry of grief, of which this program is a part.
