Drawing closer to the point where we can make our robot start to move around, we design and build the hip system for Nephele. We ended up with a 401:1 reduction gearbox driven by torquey motor that idles around 19krpm. Four captured nuts in each hip will be the connecting point for the next section of the robot. Once the hips and legs are attached, the parts really start to look like a sophisticated machine. It’s probably going to break itself immediately and require several rounds of redesigns and repairs. For a bare start on v2 of the robot, it’s looking great.
