Doing some 2020 catch up and watching new movies! We started with The Wolf House (2018), an animated film in the style of the Quay brothers or Svankmajer, that is seemingly a propaganda film for some place called The Colony. It is a bit more complicated than that but that's the simple description. The animation though is very unique and what got us interested. We watched Black Bear (2020), another mostly non-narrative film, starring Aubrey Plaza. It's about a woman who takes a creative retreat and the very uncomfortable situation that follows, featuring largely people talking about creativity, gender roles, etc. That's not the description of a Theo movie, but it is of a Sara movie. We finished with Happiest Season (2020), a rom-com starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis as a couple visiting one persons family for Christmas, except that that person is not out to their family. Hilarity, emotions, and chaos ensue. Sara is a rom-com fan, particularly of LGBTQIA+ rom-coms, but did she like this one? We end with the weekly round-up and what we're watching next.
