This is a rip of the self-titled album by Outta The Blue, recorded in 1985 and released in early 1986 on Personal Records. The band would later go on to release more albums (though only on cassette tape) before changing their name to The Szuters in the mid-1990s. This album is not to be confused with the second self titled album released by Outta The Blue in 1990. When that album is successfully archived, it will have it's own tag to differentiate itself from this release.
This album was only ever pressed to vinyl once before Angel Studios burned down and took the masters with it. It has been an insanely rare record ever since. For some reason, it has never been backed up online in any meaningful way.
After about six years of searching, I obtained two copies of this album in the past year and a half. One of them was sold to me on Discogs as in "Very Good" condition, however it turned out that the record was more scratched than the seller made it out to be as it popped and crackled constantly throughout. More on that later.
Later on, I obtained from Ebay a near mint, untouched copy from a small selection of new-old-stock copies found recently, possibly the last mint copies of this album on the planet. I bought it and have taken extremely good care of it since, with my original plan consisting of giving it to a recording studio with much better equipment then I will ever have so that they could archive it properly. To this day, I believe the only time I placed a needle on this record was today when I set out to record it. While I am still in the process of getting the record archived professionally, the studio I chose isn’t ready to take on the job at the moment, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
The files presented here have been recorded off of my Audio Technica AT-120XUSB turntable over the USB-B port on the back. However, due to an apparent manufacturing defect on the mint copy, the needle gets stuck in an endless loop at the beginning of side A no matter how or where I drop the needle. I could drop it down a little later, but I’d miss the first 15 or so seconds of the song, so I instead opted to source that first song from the lesser copy I bought before. It contains more crackles and pops but it’s the best I can do right now. The only other method would be to splice the intro of the song from the scratched record onto the rest of it sourced from the mint copy, but I didn’t want to screw with the audio that much. This whole rip is simply a holdover until I can get someone with professional equipment to do a better job anyhow.
The only edits I made to the songs were cutting out the sounds of the needle dropping onto both sides of the record, and of course, splicing the first track from the dodgy copy onto the beginning of the rip from the mint copy. I then took the whole album from there and amplified it so that the entire recording peaked at -1db. I didn’t compress or limit it, I must stress, I only brought the volume up to a uniform number. From there, I kept the gigantic master file and split the songs up individually. I didn’t erase any of the silence between each song or apply any extra edits to them or anything like that, I kept the signal raw.
I hope you all enjoy this album, it’s been my archival holy grail for years and I’m so happy I at least have it backed up in some form. I hope you all have a fantastic day or night. Enjoy this rare album!

Oh, also, the picture of the cover was just taken with my phone. I’ll hopefully get really ultra high resolution scans sometime down the road, hehe.
EDIT [2023-09-23]: Previously, this page and the files contained within featured the album title as "Outta the Blue (LP)" and the artist name as "Outta the Blue". Today, I corrected these tags and reuploaded THE SAME FILES with correct metadata. I changed the artist name to "Outta The Blue" to correct the capitalization, and the album title to simply, "Outta The Blue". I did this because this album is the first of their two self-titled records, and it should be titled just that and nothing more. Since the 1990 album came out later, once I manage to archive it, I'll give it it's own unique tag to differentiate it from this release.
