Hilda V was born in Gander, Newfoundland and raised in Hare Bay Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland, Canada.
Strong will. Determination. Self-belief. Talent. Call it what you like, but Hilda V has something deep within her that gives her the ability to succeed in the face of extreme adversity.
Born with a defect in her digestive system, just staying alive was a daily struggle. The outlook was gloomy and predictions were that she would be lucky to make it beyond twenty-five years of age.
Though plagued with a series of dreadful health problems from an early age, with much of her time spent in hospital or recuperating from being in hospital, Hilda never gave up.
During her one of her recovery periods the desire to do something in the Arts became overwhelming. So she enrolled in vocal training. It became quickly obvious that this fragile little lady was a singing sensation. In 1991 while on a bus tour holiday Hilda was asked to help entertain the passengers. So, everywhere the bus stopped she would sing with the band. Even at the Old Opry in Nashville, General Jackson's Boat Cruise and RCA studio. Her warm glow, friendly smile and joyful sense of humor took everyone by surprise. She was a natural on stage and the encouragement she received made her believe she had a real shot at making it.
Once back in Toronto she continued to refine her singing talents as a Karaoke hostess and performing one woman shows with prerecorded music tracks. Her high energy levels, natural wit and tremendous stage presence kept the fans coming back for more.
Hilda had found her home and her calling.
In 1997,now residing in Toronto (Ontario), Hilda released her first CD, "East Coast Country".
Never one to rest on her laurels, and in spite of continuing to battle serious health problems, in January 1999 Hilda started recording her second CD titled "The Power and Time".
This CD is in the Country/Crossover market and we expect it will go international.
For this project, Hilda traveled to Nashville several times where she worked with some great musicians to complete the CD.
"The Power and The Time" is expected to be released in Canada in early 2000, but will be released for the first time on MP3 on the internet in time for New Years' Eve 1999!
