March 13, 2015 RÅ (TKG, SF) The return of the gunslinger, veteran California drum and bass DJ and long term Konspiracy family member Sinseer comes out of retirement just for us with the debut of a brand new style. Say hello, to RÅ. Interview with RÅ AOB: Who are you? RÅ: I so easily go to either extreme of being either completely literal or utterly obtuse in answering these questions, but I'll give this one my best shotâ¦Ultimately a lover of so many things that live, breath, communicate human, earthly, cosmic essence. Everything creative I do is more or less operating with the human condition at its core. I'm the physical and social by-product of two hippies, one a musician and the other a craftsman and I've most certainly grown into being that exact amalgamation. Think too much, care too much, and love music, performance, and the visual arts (and crafts) so damn much. Came to DJing by way of dancing and loving the sounds of the underdog and the underground. AOB: What have we been listening to for the last hour? RÅ: My favorite recent finds and discoveries that bring together many of the influences I raved and worked my neck to since the early 90s. The final tracklist turned out being bits that I both would love to hear on a massive soundsystem or have a private listening party to in headphones. AOB: Where does RÅ begin and Sinseer end? RÅ: Sinseer was a name given to me by a friend I shared hip hop in common with when we were very young, and I wore it a bit like a badge of honor. The fact that people I had brief exchanges or fleeting encounters with, and, especially, my nearest and dearest over the years, have seen me in this light was the thing I wanted to communicate through setsâto tell stories and be vulnerable through curating and presenting the music that made me feel most raw. Now that my life has more space in it again to give music the time and attention it deserves, I wanted to come back out with an identity that was all my own. Creativity is so many folds more dimensional now from when I was a teenager and in my early 20s, that it only made sense for the new identity and sound to be more complex and bring a visual component. But RÅ definitely picks up the Drum and Bass where Sinseer left off, and now gets to throw it in the blender with all of the techno, experimental, bass, grime, UKG and house that the tempo has come down some wink AOB: What's been inspiring you musically these days? RÅ: High quality, complex production that's highly percussive and bass-driven. Paul Woolford aka Special Request opened the door for everyone to get back to hardcore and make hybrids, and this sound has had me absolutely reeling for the past couple of years now. AOB: Do you like cake? RÅ: Like so many other things, I love-hate cake. http://www.artofbeatz.org/site/index.php/aobsite/showpage/march\_12\_2015/
