Rare white rhinos Thomas and Kibo are safe and sound in their new pen in the center of Rome.It's not exactly the African savannah, but zookeepers have done their best to put in some South African flora.If they were in the wild, the rhinos would be at enormous risk from poachers because of the value of their tusks.The white rhinos are at risk of extinction because of the huge illegal business in rhino horns, which are valued as an aphrodisiac in parts of Asia.According to zoo officials, the illegal rhino horn business pulls in around $23 million a year.Thomas and Kibo were brought to Rome from two zoos in northern Europe a few weeks ago, and they have already acclimatized to their new conditions.
