It took 5 periods- and 2 overtimes- for the Chicago Blackhawks to take a 1-0 lead in its best-of-7 series with the Nashville Predators.

The game featured a furious 2nd period comeback after the Preds went up 3-0 in the 1st period on a pair of goals from Colin Wilson and another by Viktor Stalberg.

Heading into the 2nd period, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville pulled starting goalie Corey Crawford...and in came rookie Scott Darling.

Niklas Hjalmarsson cut the lead to two with a shorthanded goal early in the 2nd, then two power play goals- one by Patrick Sharp, the other by Jonathan Toews- made the game level at 3 apiece after 2 periods.

It stayed scoreless all the way into the 2nd overtime, when Duncan Keith's shot won it for Chicago.

Darling made 42 saves in the W, Nashville's Pekka Rinne saved 38 shots.

Game 2 is Friday at 930 ET.
