Video: Perth Zoo

The Perth Zoo first opened in 1898 and is home too some 1,200 animals surrounded by some beautiful gardens. You can wander through the gardens of the Australian Bushwalk, Wetlands, an Asian rainforest, the African Savannah, Amazonia and many more. With the exhibits designed to mimic the animals natural habitats and where possible utilise passive Barrie’s such as water, to improve the wellbeing of the animals. With many exhibits designed to allow you to walk with the animals walk, you never quite now which animals might give you a closer look. You can still take a ride on the carousel that first opened in 1947 and is still in operation. Since 1992, more than 4,000 animals have been bred at the Zoo and released into protected wild habitat. For some species that are on the brink of extinction this helps them, secure a future. The elephants are soon to move to another zoo to become part of a heard, which the Perth Zoo unfortunately doesn’t have the space to accomodate a bigger natural enclosure.
