Hanford Lennox Gordon was of Scottish descent. He led a varied life, serving a short stint in the First Minnesota Regiment, but left due to health concerns. He went on to practice law and served as the registrar for the U.S. land office in Monticello and St. Cloud, MN. He is the author of several books of poetry. - Summary by David Lawrence
