Nobody's Cousin was formed around 1995 by Mike Mitchell (rhythm and acoustic guitar, lead vocals) and Nick Hamilton (lead guitar and some lead vocals) in Evansville, IN. Both players had played in 'competing' local cover bands for years, but found that they had something in common when it came to their desire to write their own music. The two went through a gallery drummers before finding the young Cory Overby. Although Cory is many years younger than the other members of the band, he has managed to become an integral part of the band's sound and has stayed in the band for over 3 years. In the summer of '98, the band existed as a 3-piece, with Mitchell covering bass for live performances. Bassist Barry Nicholson, who had recently moved back to his home town of Evansville after a seven year absence quickly was asked to join the band. Nicholson had spent his years away in Dallas and L.A. pursuing an original music career with the Dallas-based band the Judas Engine. Shortly before Nicholson joining, the band recorded their debut CD 'RELATIVE' as a 3-piece. RELATIVE was recorded, mixed and co-produced by Phil Wasson of Evansville's Wasson studios, the town's busiest and most well-respected engineer. This ambitious project even features a string quartet from the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra on the tracks "Tart" and "Just Like One". The band is now playing on average three times a week in the Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky college circuit. Their live shows are usually 4 hours long and are mostly cover material with a few originals thrown in. The band is currently reaping the rewards of the regional 'buzz' about their energetic live performances. They look forward to writing new material in the months to come with what they feel is their strongest lineup yet.
