It's Friday, September 27, 1985, Hurricane Gloria is bearing down on the Southern New England coast,  I recorded 2-90 minute cassette tapes of Boston area radio stations: WMJX-FM, WBZ-AM and WBCN-FM spread over the morning hours (3 hours total out of a 6 hour period).

Station #1:  WMJX Magic 106.7 FM: "New England's largest Soft Rock Library", soft spoken and easy listening. There are two segments [approx 5:19am to 6:05am] & [approx 8:28am to 9:03am]

Station #2:  WBZ-AM 1030: MOR music, but it was all news today.  This segment is short [approx 8:06am-8:23am]

Station #3:  WBCN FM 104.1: Rock of Boston [approx 9:10am-10:36am]

This aircheck of WBZ-AM 1030 was recorded on September 27, 1985. It's short in length (only 17-18 minutes), but is a hands-down news operation this day, with many reporters on the ground.  Even though at the time WBZ was still playing music (Dave Maynard is the morning personality), the station this pre-storm Friday morning sounds a lot like the News Station that it would become in a few years time.

Gary Lapierre, Don Batting, Debra Lawler, Ted Larson, Steven Smith, Elliot Abrams, Gil Santos and Dave Maynard are running a well-oiled news station this September Morn.
