Learn how to train a Harris hawk to fly free in part 1 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7g0QpbBLco
This is part 2 of the How to train a hawk series. In this video we learn to tie a knot with one hand. Its important for falconers and bird of prey keepers to learn how to tie the falconry knot. Training hawks involves more than just training the bird, you have to train yourself too! Tying a falconers knot is one of the most important things you can learn when staring to work with birds of prey. I used to work at a falconry center and as a test I once counted how many times I tied a falconry knit in one day, it was over 40 times!
Now I own 9 of my own birds I still spend large amounts of my day tying a falconry knot. The knot is used to tether the bird to the perch. Correctly knowing how to tether your hawk is vital when training the hawk. This video is about how to tether a bird of prey and not really about how to train a bird of prey.
