This recording is part of a collection of digitized audio recordings of the North Carolina Senate daily legislative sessions from the North Carolina General Assembly. The original recordings are part of the Senate audio record series held at the State Archives of North Carolina and contain the official audio records of the chamber's daily floor debates. This recording covers the proceedings from the 1994 Extraordinary Session, Session Days 1-2, and originally resided on Dictaphone tape 8 for the session (part 2 of 8). This extraordinary session was called by Governor James B. Hunt in a proclamation dated January 12, 1994 and focused on crime in North Carolina. Digitization of this material was supported by a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant program is made possible by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
