Good morning all you wonderful people!! & welcome to another episode of “shugE makes another old album available for free on the internet” !!

Thank you to everyone who has been enjoying the music these past days & interacting with me here & elsewhere….as promised I’m releasing another old album today for free streaming & downloading.

This is super fun for me as we get a bit into the weeds…back to the year 2006:

I had been living back in Minnesota for a year or so after my couple years in Gainesville (FL), so I booked the album release show for a double album release (“ALIVE IN FL” & “Mpls to Gville & back”) & traveled down to gainesville to have this double album release party at the venue I used to host a weekly open mic at: “Tim & Terry’s Music & More” (yep, the old purple house!).

Today I’m re-releasing half of that double album combo: an 18 track album called “Mpls to Gville & back” which includes some tracks that would later be cleaned up & remastered for the 2008 release of “first winter” along with a slew of other originals of mine that can’t be found elsewhere & a handful of obscure covers from the likes of Gillian Welch, Wilco, Radiohead, a Johnny Cash song done in a way that paid some homage to another cover of the same song by Jeff Buckley, & a very special version of a David Rovics song (If I Die Tomorrow) which had been gifted to me by David at a show we played together (someone requested the song & he said he wasn’t prepared to play it & he then encouraged me to play a cover of it for the fan & then after hearing my version gave me permission to take the song & run with it, including recording it for release on an album of mine…this track would also get remastered for a higher quality release two years later on the album “first winter” under a new name “amerikkka will be the death of me”).

Personally my favorite track on this album is “flowers” a very personal & political song which to my surprise as I look back on all the years isn’t available on any other recordings of mine (I did re-release it on a compilation album I sold on one later tour but I’ve long ago lost all copies of that tour album (tour album was called “shug’07” if anyone happens to have a copy they can share with me)).
