These are our moments traveling as a family of four on a round-the-world trip, moving west across Asia to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
We flew into Dubai, which would serve as our home base for the area. This video is a low-budget, high fun guide to one of the most expensive areas in the world.
This video highlights a number of great things you can do for free or little money in the area:
(1) Learn about the origins of the city in Old Dubai along the historic trading port of Dubai Creek (2) See the city by water along the corniche or in a traditional dhow boat (3) Buy souvenirs and practice your haggling skills at the Grand Souq (4) Visit the Dubai Mall, a space like no other with more than 1,000 stores, a giant aquarium, indoor waterfall, ice skating rink, and more (5) See the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa (6) Catch the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa's free light and fountain show which runs multiple times throughout the day and night (7) Visit Dubai's stunning beaches and sprawling parks in areas such as Al Mamzer (8) Rent a car and test out the massive highway system (9) See architectural wonders such as the Dubai Frame, the Burj Al Arab, and the Burj Khalifa (10) Explore engineering wonderings such as the manmade archipelago, the Palm Jumeirah (11) Travel to another of the seven emirates [states], including Abu Dhabi (12) Marvel at the modern wonder the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, envisioned and built by UAE founder father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (13) Catch a free wildlife show with roaming camels in the desert space between the urban areas (14) Roam the beautiful desert dunes of Al Qudra (15) Get around town on the world class metro system (16) Visit other areas in the greater Arabian Peninsula, including Oman and its Musandam Peninsula
