Are you over this terrible weather? We certainly are! Rain, rain and more rain. 3 successive La Nina events have certainly produced record rainfall across Australia. Our rivers and dams are overflowing. North east Victoria is no exception. We decided to thumb our noses at the foul weather predicted for the north east at the end of October 2022 and travel to Mitta Mitta in our Land Rover Discovery D5 with our Crusader X-Country Extreme caravan to see Dartmouth Dam spilling for only the 5th time since it was completed in 1979. Dartmouth is the largest earth and rockfill dam in the Southern Hemisphere and the highest dam in Australia. I worked as a water quality scientist on the Dartmouth project during and after construction. I saw it spill for the first time in 1990. There was no way that we were going to miss this spectacle which last occured in 1996, 26 years ago.
