Our guest is Dr. Rakesh Godhwani who is the founder of School of Meaningful Experiences, an online ed-tech startup in Bangalore. He is also an Adjunct Faculty of Communication at IIM Bangalore and IIM Udaipur.
In this episode, he talks about charisma and charismatic leadership, why it is important, how it can be misused and hence the need for caution. He elaborates further on whether it is in-born or can be learnt and how charisma compares with Executive Presence.
Dr. Godhwani's research and teaching interests focus on how a charismatic leader builds a persuasive message to impact audiences. His fourth book titled “Public Speaking Kaleidoscope” was released by Business Expert Press USA in May 2017. His earlier book “What to Say and when to Shut Up!” was published by Penguin Random House in November 2014. Rakesh recently launched his online course on EdX and IIMBx called “Effective Business Communication” and he also has his own podcast called “Plunnge”. Prior to his plunnge into academia, teaching and writing, Dr. Godhwani worked with companies like Wipro, Intel and Qualcomm in various capacities ranging from engineering to business development. He also volunteers with Vishwas Society for Mental Health, an organization that offers free and confidential counselling.
