This is just a couple of months after a format flip from the "Beautiful Music" genre to "Top 40”. This change was at a time when, for most of the 1980s, some out-of-market [read: out-of-state] radio stations were vying for listeners in the very profitable Boston MA market, by extremely compressing their signals. (Without having to increase wattage.) We couldn't find the logo for WGAN-FM. This is the logo of their former AM 560 newsradio sister station.
