On this edition of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman speaks with Rich Bender, executive director of USA Wrestling, the national governing body for the sport of wrestling in the United States, and part of the U.S. Olympic Committee. USA Wrestling will be holding the 2007 United States Marine Corps U.S. World Team Trials this coming weekend, Saturday, June 9, and Sunday, June 10, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Besides competition in men's freestyle, men's Greco-Roman, and women's freestyle wrestling, this will be the first World Team Trials to feature competition in grappling, where wrestlers can win by points or submissions. The 2007 World Team Trials will determine the 2007 U.S. World Team that will compete in men's freestyle, men's Greco-Roman, and women's freestyle wrestling at the 2007 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 17-23, and in grappling at the 2007 World Wrestling Games in Antalya, Turkey, Sept. 7-9. We spoke with Rich Bender about the 2007 World Team Trials. We also discussed USA Wrestling's recent announcement of the formation of "a strategic partnership" with the International Fight League (IFL) and what that means.
