I was running late, getting off later from work than I wanted. So instead of catching the bus from Hilltop to Grandview area which would've taken an hour, I decided to Uber it. I had broght all my gear to work since I knew it would be a time crunch. Well, Murphy's Law, the Uber got a mile or so from my workplace and I realized I left my tall mic stand at work. Ugh, so had to have him turn around and drop me off cause it would take 5 minutes to get my mic stand from the kitchen. So, got ANOTHER Uber and finally got to the packed show. I looked around the small room, which is damn near impossible to set up my tall stand anywhere but next to the soundboard, but I couldn't find the (cute) sound woman, and Tim was a couple few songs into his set. Well, people don't like to sit dead center in front of the artist (I do), so there was a seat right in front of Tim. Perfect. I hate missing parts of sets, so I wasn't gonna tape him, but I hate missing any show more, so I set up my tiny desktop mic stand on the table. The trouble when you sit so close you miss the sound from the PA speakers (but you experience the sweat better). But if it's just a solo artist that not too big a deal. With a full band you'll miss the sound of the vocals since you're only getting it from the stage moniters and the other instruments drown it out a bit. But the mix from both Tim and Joe Peppercorn solo turned out damn near perfect.Welcome back to your home base, Tim.
