This event took place as part of the 2004 San Francisco Jazz Festival's Spring Season series. 2004 saw the launch of the SFJAZZ Collective, led by esteemed tenor saxophonist and Artistic Director, Joshua Redman. This worldwide premiere concert featured the SFJAZZ Collective with Bobby Hutcherson, Joshua Redman, Nicholas Payton, Miguel Zenón, Josh Roseman, Rene Rosnes, Robert Hurst, and Brian Blade. "Each season, the SFJAZZ Collective's repertoire will feature new, original compositions by the artists and new arrangements of works by a modern master. For its inaugural season, the Collective will highlight the music of saxophone legend and architect of modern jazz, Ornette Coleman. In its 2004 performances, the SFJAZZ Collective will perform from among six works by Ornette Coleman, arranged by Grammy-winning music arranger Gil Goldstein: 'Lonely Woman,' 'Una Muy Bonita,' 'When Will the Blues Leave,' 'Happy House,' 'School Work,' and 'Peace.' --pg 9 from SFJAZZ Spring Season 2004 program catalog.
