Hello and good morning from Austin Texas yes the South by Southwest 00:20:31 Music Festival is underway and I think the biggest name here and everyone's talking 00:20:36 about him is music country music superstar Keith Urban He is probably the biggest 00:20:43 name that will be performing this week and for those who who know and don't know 00:20:47 over the course of his career he has earned 4 Grammy awards 10 Country Music 00:20:53 Association Awards and the list goes on and on so he will be here and another big 00:20:58 name is El cane I think the biggest hit for her is X is another She's an American 00:21:05 singer songwriter and actress and received 2 Grammy nominations for her ex was 00:21:10 a no song and that stopped us by Southwest it's really 00:21:14 a place to discover up and comers indie bands and there will be bands of musicians 00:21:19 here from around the world and just to give you an idea flavor of who's coming in 00:21:25 and the scope of this we have 00:21:28 a musician from Chengdu China hire brothers group and then Indonesian rapper rich 00:21:34 too that will also be here and performing tonight is 00:21:39 a master of Indian and Pakistani classical music was did not see me he'll be 00:21:44 performing since the music for Western audiences so that would be very interesting 00:21:49 to see as well and again that's just said to give you 00:21:52 a taste of the lineup in the global nature of this music festival now Keith Urban 00:21:57 you mentioned he's 00:21:58 a kind of the headliner there one of the bigger names and he was been on board 00:22:02 across his before he's married to actress Nicole Kidman and they are from Australia 00:22:06 he is 00:22:06 a very talented guy singer songwriter and I love his music and I'm sure that it's 00:22:12 going to be 00:22:12 a lot of fun for everybody who gets lucky enough to get in is this something that 00:22:16 you buy 00:22:16 a ticket to are these performers you said clubs up and down the streets how does 00:22:20 the South by Southwest Festival work how do people get in yet most of these up. 00:22:26 Performers are performing at clubs and restaurants around downtown and Austin 00:22:32 Texas is known as the live music capital of the world so there are countless venue 00:22:38 where live music can take place and as long as you perches attendees purchases 00:22:44 music festival badge and with the beds you can get into any music festival 00:22:50 including the Keith Urban performance from from the big names to the to the up and 00:22:56 comers anyone with a bad skin can see these performances now I do have 00:23:00 a question kind of news related to the news was focused the last couple of days on 00:23:05 Austin Texas where you are because of some some bombs which caused the loss of life 00:23:11 2 people died some people were injured there were bombs blowing up in the last few 00:23:15 days so how has that impacted the South by Southwest Festival what's going on there 00:23:18 with relation so that it's interesting because we were supposed to interview the 00:23:23 Austin police yesterday on a kind of just 00:23:26 a story about security and how you know how you handle security in 00:23:31 a big event such as South by Southwest and the police officers had to cancel our 00:23:36 interview because of this attack and to bomb incidents that have been happening and 00:23:42 it's been happening throughout the course of 11 days and they don't know if it's 00:23:45 connected but the 2 victims so far seem to know each other so the police are 00:23:51 deathly investigating that and it is kind of the talk of South by Southwest we 00:23:55 talked to 00:23:56 a few attendees of the festival they're well aware that this is going on but 00:23:59 they're also relieved that it's not something that's happening. You know related to 00:24:06 the festival that it's something that's happening in the you know outside of the 00:24:09 festival self it seems to be an often issue not a festival issue and we asked 00:24:14 a few attendees what you know whether security is 00:24:17 a concern whether this incident unnerve them and for the most part they said no I 00:24:22 mean the fact that we're here we're more aware that crazy things like this do 00:24:28 happen and it's you know especially in light of what's been happening in the news 00:24:32 in the last year but they say it's just it's just 00:24:36 a matter of being vigilant when they're at 00:24:37 a concert they're more aware of maybe backpacks left on the floor or in 00:24:42 a corner and that they're there you know they will definitely seek out did they see 00:24:47 something unusual but it's not going to keep them from enjoying the festival and 00:24:51 the festival goes on for the rest of the week that's right and so there will be 00:24:55 many many more days when they'll be concerts and performers to showcase their art 00:25:01 and you also have taken in some other things beyond just the music and I know I was 00:25:06 particularly interested to read this morning in the post in the newspaper about 00:25:10 this 3 D. 00:25:11 Printer that can make ah house for $10000.00 we're going to try and get that price 00:25:15 down to 4000 dollars but this 3 D. 00:25:17 Printer can make 00:25:18 a house for $10000.00 yeah and this is this was announced here at South by 00:25:24 Southwest and it's a partnership between an Austin base company called icon and 00:25:29 a nonprofit called new story in the nonprofit goal is to create more housing 00:25:35 especially in developing countries and their goal is to make 00:25:39 a house that's anywhere from 600 to 800 square feet and under 24 hours for less 00:25:46 than $4000.00 Why did they say they can build this home under unpredictable 00:25:52 conditions such as limited power and water even if there's 00:25:57 a limited labor infrastructure that they can somehow build this house that is safe 00:26:02 enough to Sanders.
