Jumping the Shark Release Date: July 16, 2008 Label: Elderly Man Records Length: 72:13 Writing for this album began during the summer of 2006, just after the release of the previous full-length, Don't Call Me Barbara. The 13-song album was originally planned for recording and release in winter/spring 2007, but, due to insufficient time before high school graduation, was reduced to a six-song EP, entitled You Deck. After You Deck, writing resumed to reconstruct the unused songs back into a full-length. By July of 2007, a batch of five or six new songs had been added to the album, making the writing once again complete. Recording was intended to begin immediately after, but was once again delayed due to the best summer ever. In fall 2007, one of the songs ("Pluto Lives!") was removed from the tracklist and recorded as a stand-alone track which still hasn't made it beyond Myspace. Writing resumed once again. By late January 2008, the process of recording an album finally began. It was decided early on in the sessions that tambourines and bongos weren't going cut it this time around. The percussion for the entire album would be handled by drum software and endless hours of programming. This decision was followed by the decision to add bass to the mix as well, something that was long overdue. After about six months of recording, Jumping the Shark was released on July 16, 2008 at 4:52 PM, exactly eight years after the incarnation of Sick_Bob.
