More people in the 18-to-34 age group are using smartphones, tablets and TV-connected devices. Smartphones and other Internet-connected devices're cutting into Americans' TV time. Data from Nielsen given to the Associated Press shows more people in the 18-to-34 age group are using smartphones, tablets and TV-connected devices like a game console or streaming box. About 8-and-a-half MILLION people per minute were using such devices in May - which's a 26-percent increase from a year ago. That same 18-to-34 age bracket -- which advertisers tend to target -- saw a 10-percent drop in TV viewing. But, the report says it's not a direct trade off. People often use their smartphones while watching TV -- or use their phones when they're out of the house, which wouldn't cut into their TV time. And some people use their mobile devices to watch TV shows.
