Video: IGUANAS on St.Maarten / Saint Martin

Channel: Thorsten Altmann

About

The Green Iguana or simply called the Iguana is an impressive example of wildlife on Sint Maarten/Saint Martin. Although native from southern Brazil and Paraguay as far north as Mexico the species also made its way to the Caribbean Islands. For a lot of people the name Green Iguana

is a bit confusing, because a lot of specimen appear in different colours from grey over orange

up to almost black, especially when they become older. If you have the luck to spot a real juvenile one,

then you know where the name is coming from. Those cute fellows literally shine in a bright green.

If you are hiking on our beautiful island, it won’t take long until you see one or most of the time more

Iguanas. You find them in bushes, on trees, or sunbathing on one of the countless big rocks. I can’t help myself but those beautiful creatures always remind me to the long extincted dinosaurs.
