About

Bishi is a singer, composer, multi-media artist, and style icon who grew up in London. She's the daughter of immigrants from India, and as a young girl felt caught between two cultures. Now, by drawing on Eastern and Western classical traditions and vibrant British street culture, she has blended her influences and backgrounds into powerful, gorgeous music that embraces her hybrid identity. David Garland welcomes Bishi to the WNYC studio to talk about her life and work, perform music from her album "Albion Voice," and present a portion of her new multi-media piece "In Sleep."
