Despite having a ‘progressive’ mayor, the beleaguered NYC Housing Authority or NYCHA is probably in worse shape since de Blasio became mayor--and some of the problems have been self-inflicted: Questionable and dishonest management, a controversial new chair, blockbuster audits concerning repairs (or a lack thereof)--all while the city pushes for more privitization. It doesn’t help de Blasio that there is the very real perception of a pay-to-play administration--and multiple examples--that he favors donor friends--many of whom are in real estate, and stand to benefit from privitization.
