About

I wrote this song in 1977. The title is from a favourite 1970s TV show of mine, from Hong Kong, subtitled the Water Margin, a multi-part series about the adventures of the Chinese equivalent to Robin Hood and his Band of Merry Men, known as Lin Cheong and the 9 dozen heroes of the Water Margin, based on the 12th century chinese tales of the Heroes of the Marsh. I loved the innocence and beauty of the show, in which good was always better than and distinct from evil, even if evil prevailed. The song traces real/spiritual turning points in my life, contrasting with the chinese ideals as expressed in the show; looking back, I guess the song is about growing up. This is one of the best guitar parts I ever wrote and I need to re-record this song using my Martin!
