Quinteto Hot De Barcelona "Georgia De Mi Pensamiento" LA VOZ DE SU AMO GY 322 - Free Archive Audio

One of the greatest spanish Hot Jazz bands. The Quinteto Hot de Barcelona (Barcelona Hot Quintette) recorded their only record in Barcelona, 1940 for the spanish HMV (La Voz de Su Amo). Even though it was recorded in that year, their style and sound are more pre war, something usual in those days in Spain, where the Civil War (1936-1939) stopped the record industry. After the war, some Hot Jazz combos started recording again even though people had started losing interest in the old jazz and prefered Swing. Some have related them to the Quintette of The Hot Club of France nad Django's gipsy jazz, but they were basically a hawaiian combo (one of the few in Spain, if not the only one). According to a live show program they were formed by two rythm guitars, bass, ukulele and hawaiian steel guitar and they used to play both jazz and hawaiian numbers, even Sol Hoopii versions.
