In this session, we look at both the pastoral qualifications of 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Paul's explicit instruction with regard to the appropriate role ascribed to women in 1 Tim. 2:9-15. Though controversial within today's evangelicalism, the matter SHOULDN'T be--despite the intrusions of postmodern evangelical feminism, the Scriptures are crystal clear on this matter. The fact that there IS such a controversy only serves to underscore the fact that the modern neo-evangelical church in America is 1) autonomian in its approach (i.e., a law unto itself, as opposed to being under God's rule and direction) and 2) that is more comfortable with shallow teachers who practice eisegesis (as opposed to Biblical exegesis).
