King Louis XIII (27.09.1601 - 14.05.1643): King of the House of Bourbon. Nickname: the Just. He was King of France from 1610-1643 and of Navarre from 1610-1620 (in 1620 the crown of Navarre was absorbed into that of France). He became king shortly before his 9th birthday, when his father, Henri IV was assassinated. His Italian mother, Marie de' Medici, became regent, but the young king took power in 1617. He relied heavily on his prime ministers, including Cardinal Richelieu, sent his mother into exile in 1630 and executed her followers.

He died of intestinal tuberculosis.

Marc-Antoine Charpentier (Paris, 1643 - Paris, 24.02.1704): French composer. Became private composer for Marie de Lorraine, Duchess of Guise (from 1671 until her death in 1688). He also wrote for the stage, worked with Molière, among others.

He wrote 8 operas, of which only 2 have been preserved, also music for the stage (pastorals, comedies), otherwise mainly church music.
