About
Sound in the Park (1): City Rhythm JoyTrendySound / Pusshi Ta-Chi / Motion Fades 8/1/2011 2:30-4:30pm Near Pool Pavilion, Kowloon Park The Opening performance of âSound in the Parkâ will take place in the space between Pool Pavilion and The Maze in Kowloon Park, the former Whitfield Barracks. Three bands, JoyTrendySound, Pusshi Ta-Chi and Motion Fades bring with their minimal style of music to express their views and feelings about city rhythm. (Please scroll to the bottom for the schedule and venue of the "Sound in the Park") Pusshi Ta-Chi âPusshi Ta-Chiâ resembles the sound of basic beats. The paradox between their apparently chill-out musical style and the content about the strained bits and pieces in daily lives is no more than an accident. Creation can never get along well with discipline and clockwork. They like to play music live on the streets, at the sites of protest, they like to play unprepared â because those are moments when anything is an instrument, and anything carries their own pusshi ta-chi. Motion Fades Motion Fades is a solo acoustic project, started in the Autumn of 2006 by Mike, who previously involved in indie rock act Chochukmo. With his love in music such as Bossa Nova, Jazz and Ballad, Motion Fades has since provided a perfect platform for him to write and sing whatever he feels. And now he's on his own with his voice and his low-priced Takamine guitar, performing in any places from huge rock venues to small pubs lying around any street corners. By his voice and rhythms, he wants to deliver the sentiments he experiences in every day's life. JoyTrendySound A local indie guitar-pop group formed in 2002 by a boy and a girl, whose debut album titled âSmileâ. Their songs were included in compilations of Taiwan indie labels like âWhite Wabbit Recordsâ and âMusic543â. The group also produced for bands such as Cafeinn Park, Offset: Spectacles, LaughitoffãMy Little AirportãFruitpunchãStealstealgroundãPor Por ChannelãThe Evening PrimroseãAudery Lily. They also collaborated on projects with musicians such as Jack Or JiveãAlokãWilson Tsang and the Pancakes, etc. Their long awaited second album âUntitledâ was finally out in 2010, 8 years after their debut. Sound in the Park ( Curated by: Yuen Chi-chung) Outdoor concerts in six different themes take place in six locations in four parks. âSound in The Parkâ is an afternoon concert series aiming to mix music into the park environment. The shows need no stage set, no giant loudspeakers. It is music that is going to be absorbed into the gentle milieu and landscape of the park, furnishing it with more notes of green. Under the winter sun and amidst the comforting environment of the park, music-lovers will have a good chance to enjoy live music in a free and open atmosphere. A park is a very important outdoor space for people to relax. Given the ever- growing number of people and shopping malls here in Hong Kong, a park is getting even more vital as the public space and resource that city dwellers can share among themselves. Turning this public space into a music platform and performance venue, Sound in The Park will tour around Hong Kong Park, Kowloon Park, Sha Tin Park and Tuen Mun Park. The piazzas, gardens, amphitheatre and grassland are all places in which great music will be delivered. And the concerts will be tailor-made with themes to fit different park environment. Great music and the close encounter between music and its audience culminate in a picture that is both eye- and ear-soothing; an enjoyable afternoon filled with the warmth of the sun and the wonders of music.
